I didn’t read his works as a pioneer of the “New Journalism” but I liked the issues rised in The Bonfire of the Vanities (the movie). From his answers in this interview I think there must be a self-imposed limit to the “epater le bourgeoise” gesture. I’m against the abuses of the Politically Correctness too; but to mock Noam Chomsky’s political stands (as pseudo-intellectual) and sustain that W’s intelligence and culture equals that of The New York Review of Books’ editor is too much.
No leí sus trabajos como pionero del “Nuevo Periodismo” pero me gustaron las cuestiones planteadas en (la película) La hoguera de las vanidades. Por sus respuestas en este reportaje, creo que debería existir un límite auto impuesto al gesto de “epater le bourgeoise”. Yo también estoy contra los abusos de lo Políticamente Correcto, pero burlarse de las posturas políticas de Noam Chomsky (como pseudo-intelectuales) y sostener que la inteligencia y la cultura de W. igualan a las del director de The New York Review of Books es demasiado.
