I’m still posting way behind my published work. This is an interview with a political analist. He contends that Kirchner’s administration is the epitome of a conservative, despite his progresist rhetoric: “a rich State with a poor people”.
Well, maybe Kirchner’s Argentina is best in the words than in reality. But, again, the State grip on the economy had almost vanished in the nineties. If you gave up your main incomes (sate oil company for one), you need to build a mattress in order to prevent being harrassed by the markets. We experienced that already.

Todavía estoy posteando muy detrás del trabajo publicado. Esta es una entrevista con un analista político. Sostiene que el gobierno de Kirchner es el epítome de un conservador, pese a su retórica progresista. “Un Estado rico con un pueblo pobre”.
Bueno, puede ser que la Argentina de K. sea mejor en las palabras que en los hechos. Pero-de nuevo- el control de la economía por el Estado casi desapareció en los ‘90. Si uno ha entregado sus ingresos principales (YPF por ejemplo), necesita armar un colchón para evitar ser arrasado por los mercados. Nosotros ya experimentamos eso.

I’ve been lazy latelly and still feelin the same. So, I’ll make just a brief comment. This article by Oppenheimer predicted (before the Bush’s trip to the region) a meaningless show and it was so.
Eventhough, it may be worth to think what’s going on under the waves of these rethoric tournaments. Venezuela’s and Argentina’s economies had been devastated from the mid seventies and its main assets conveyed into foreign hands. To resume the problem: the State acts in place of the non existing local capitalistic class and it makes the regulatory and investing decisions that a tiny oligopolized market can’t do properly. Don’t be fooled by the use of populist “socialist” rethoric they need in order to strengts its stands.

Estuve vago ultimamente y todavía me siento así. De modo que haré sólo un breve comentario. Este artículo de Oppenheimer predijo (antes del viaje de Bush a la región) un show sin sentido y así fue.
Sin embargo vale la pena pensar qué ocurre bajo las olas de estos torneos retóricos. Las economías de Venezuela y Argentina habían sido desvastadas desde mediados de los ‘70 y sus principales riquezas transferidas a manos extranjeras. Para resumir el problema: El Estado actúa en lugar de una inexistente clase capitalista local y toma las decisiones regulatorias y de inversiones que un pequeño mercado oligopolizado es incapaz de hacer bien.
No hay que dejarse engañar por la populista retórica “socialista” que ellos necesitan para reforzar su posición.

The Governor of New Mexico is a contender for the Democrat nomination with little chances against Hillary and Obama, but is the only one of Hispanic background. He claims to have the best record and the best program. In regard to Latin America he recalls Kennedy’s Alliance for the Progress wich was coincidentally mentioned by Bush in advance to his coming trip to the region.
If Kennedy’s initiative was resisted by local leftists as a disguised imperialist strategy, Bush’s one can only araise mockery. I’ll comment more on this soon.

El gobernador de Nuevo México es un competidor por la nominación demócrata con pocas oportunidades frente a Hillary y Obama, pero es el único de origen hispano. Proclama tener el mejor récord y el mejor programa. Respecto a Latinoamérica invoca la Alianza para el progreso de Kennedy, la cual fue coincidentemente mencionada por Bush antes de su próximo viaje por la región.
Si la iniciativa de Kennedy gue resistida por las izquierdas locales como una estrategia imperialista disimulada, la de Bush sólo puede despertar burlas. Pronto voy a comentar más sobre esto.

My intention was to publish this two as thumbnails, each one in front of the other, as was supposed to be viewed by the newspaper reader, on opposite pages. I failed. They are the Argentinean province of Río Negro’s main contenders to the post of Governor in the coming elections.
I did the portraits over one night traying to take advantage of the ArtRage 2.2 digital oils, but I think I wasn’t very successful this time.

Mi intención era publicar estas dos reducidas, una frente a la otra, como se suponía que debían ser vistas por el lector del diario, en páginas opuestas. Fracasé. Ellos son los dos principales candidatos a gobernador de la provincia argentina de Río Negro en la próximas elecciones.
Hice estos retratos a lo largo de una noche tratando de aprovechar los óleos digitales de ArtRage 2.2, pero no creo haber sido muy exitoso esta vez.
