To thousands of Argentinean students in the high school he was the writer of their Physics textbook. To his country was a lot more. A Physicist and Technologist, he was the founder of the metallurgic laboratories for the national atomic energy enterprise (CNEA) and a designer of energy policies. But, above all, he was an outspoken polemicist and publicist on behalf of the scientific development of the country. This article(sp) recalls his more personal side, his love for Carlos Gardel’s tangos on a pair with Einstein’s humanistic approach to Science. A deeper lover of his country, he equally abhorred closed nationalistic and militaristic ideologies. Confronted with the South Atlantic war against Britain unlashed by the Military Junta, he felt hurt by the dilemma: "If we lost, we win; if we win, we lost". He passed away, aged 59, just before the recovery of Democracy, when his knowledge, his patriotism and his absence of hypocrisy could have been of great service to his country.
Para miles de estudiantes argentinos del colegio secundario era el autor de su libro de texto de Física. Para su país fue mucho más. Físico y Tecnólogo, fue el fundador del laboratorio de metalurgia para la empresa nacional de energía atómica (CNEA) y diseñador de políticas energéticas. Pero, sobre todo, fue un profuso polemista y difusor a favor del desarrollo científico del país. Este artículo recuerda su lado más personal, su amor por los tangos de Carlos Gardel a la par con la actitud humanista hacia la ciencia de Einstein. Un profundo amante de su país, aborrecía por igual las cerradas ideologías nacionalistas y militaristas. Frente a la guerra del Atlántico Sur, desatada por la Junta Militar, se sintió herido por el dilema: "Si perdemos, ganamos; si ganamos, perdemos". Murió, a los 59 años, justo antes de la recuperación de la democracia, cuando su conocimiento, su patriotismo y su carencia de hipocresía hubieran sido de gran servicio para su país.

Una pequeña aclaración, los libros de texto que escribió para el secundario (con el Ing. Alberto Maiztegui) eran de Física.
